This is accomplished in three steps. The first step is that we are cutting down on many of the costs for this first term that are normally required monthly with the mission.
For example: we will have health care, but have been allowed to delay investment into retirement planning.
Work funds that typically help with church plant rental and other necessary ministry expenses have been reduced from our budget to allow us to move and begin:
Work funds that typically help with church plant rental and other necessary ministry expenses have been reduced from our budget to allow us to move and begin:
· language learning
· cultural adaptation
· Ministerial mentoring as quickly as possible.
So our monthly need will be lower, for the first term as things will be cut out of the budget for that time.
The second step is that our outfit fund is cut by almost 60%. The one time amount is for the initial set up once we arrive in Brazil . This will include: moving expenses, initial document work, transportation, language school, appliances and such necessities in an international move. For the first term we will do a lot of borrowing of materials from others and trying to cut things out so that we can cut that cost.
The third step is that the Mission as approved a grant for us that will help compensate for the cut in funds. This will help with housing and other basic needs for the first term.
Once the required amount is raised we can get on the field, Adam can learn the language, and we can start working alongside a veteran missionary in Brazil . After 3-4 years we will come back and raise what is lacking in the amount that we will need to continue full term. The mission will at that time remove the grant.
There are still many things to finalize as we prepare for Brazil and we are excited to see God work through this amazing opportunity.
